The Lyon, the Witch & the Wardrobe

Theatreworks USA’s enchanting musical is based on C.S. Lewis’adventure story about four children of war-torn England, who accidentally enter the land of Narnia by climbing through a magic wardrobe. This strange and wondrous place is ruled by the cold-hearted White Witch, who makes the winter last year round. Although they seem unlikely saviors, the children fulfill an ancient prophesy by defeating the witch, thus restoring sunshine and peace to the spell-bound Narnia and retuning the great Lion King Aslan to his throne.

Junie B. Jones

Dear first-grade journal,

Hooray, hooray! Theatreworks USA is making a brand-new musical (that is bunch of talking all jumbled together with singing and dancing, I believe). And what do you know! It's all about me, Junie B. Jones! (The B stands for Beatrice, only I do not like Beatrice. I just like B and that's all.) This is the bestest musical ever, I tell you! It's got loads of funny songs, and it's based on a bunch of books this lady, Barbara Park, wrote about me and the things I do in first grade.

The Mystery of King Tut

Theatreworks’ exciting musical tells the stories of Tutankhamen, the “boy king” who ruled Egypt in the 14th century B.C., and Howard Carter, the archeologist who made him famous by discovering his tomb in 1922. Over the years a number of theories have been explored regarding the cause of King Tut’s death. One widely held theory (only very recently disproved) contends that the king was assassinated via a blow to the head. Playwright Mindi Dickstein (lyricist of Broadway’s Little Women: The Musical) and composer Daniel Messé have woven together a scenario based on this idea to tell a compelling tale of two men looking to leave their marks on history in two very different worlds.
